Hello!

Hello, welcome to my first blog.  I thought this would be the opportune time to introduce myself to you – just in case we haven’t met.  My name is Shelby Tuck-Horton.  I wear many hats.  Truth be told, I have always worn many hats.  I always seem to be more productive when I have a full plate!!

So let me tell you about me and all of the hats that I wear.  I am an entrepreneur.  I currently have two companies – Exquisite Expressions and Events – a boutique style event planning company and Shelby Tuck-Horton LLC, my newly formed coaching and consulting company.  For over a decade, I have served as the MD/DC State Manager for the Association of Bridal Consultants (ABC) and was recently appointed as the ABC Director of Education.  I also teach wedding planner business classes at one of the local community colleges in my area and I am a member of the Advisory Board for The Wedding Planner Magazine.

While it may appear to be a lot on my plate,  it really isn’t because it all works together.  One of my highest strengths and one of my top values is education.  I love learning, which means I love sharing what I learn through teaching, mentoring, coaching and speaking.  Whenever you are in alignment with your passion and purpose, it never seems like work.

Every step in my careers has always led me to the next step.  Working for the federal government prepared me for becoming a wedding planner.  Seems strange, doesn’t it?  However, my position in the government required me to be detailed oriented, work with budgets of all sizes, and to be an excellent communicator.  I use all of these skills as a wedding planner.  My decision to become an entrepreneur introduced me to a whole new world of challenges. Learning from my mistakes, attending conferences and seminars, working with business coaches and mentors, I was able to start successfully grow my business.  Sharing my experiences, wisdom and advice with others led me to mentoring and coaching other entrepreneurs so they would not make the same mistakes that I did.

Sometimes we all need a little advice and guidance.  Sometimes we may need someone to hold us accountable to take the necessary actions to reach our goals.  Other times we may need someone who will listen and help us come up with an action plan for success.  Although I had to learn many lessons the hard way, I eventually found mentors and coaches who were able to help me and I want to be there to help others.  If you are interested in how we can work together to help you in your business, please call me to schedule a complimentary session.  I would love to hear from you.
